Insurance Dodo’s Scoring Methodology

At Insurance Dodo, we review insurance companies across four categories.  We designate a maximum of 25 points in each category.

The cumulative score is called our "Good Egg Score".

Categories:

  • Ruffled Feathers Score - This is a complaints score.  We read and analyze multiple review sites including BBB, Trust Pilot, and the National Association of Insurance Commissioner to determine this score.
  • Un-Crackable Score - Financial stability score.  This score measures an insurance company's ability to meet ongoing claims obligations.  We use 3rd-party finanicial review companies such as A.M. Best and S&P to create this score.
  • Egg-Cellence Score - Our customer service score.  This score is based on JD Power U.S. Home Insurance Rankings and/or online reviews.
  • Dodo Score - Our own reviewer's subjective score based on his/her insurance expertise.  Our reviewer may consider underwriting, pricing, and advertising relationship to determine this score.

Disclosure:  At times, we may assign higher Dodo Scores to our advertisers which may affect their placement in "best of" company lists.
